Joy Bennett is the founder of Joyful Breath Yoga Therapy. She received her 200–hr yoga certification in 2004 from Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, MA, and is also certified as a LifeForce Yoga Practitioner, at Levels I & II. She has studied extensively with Amy Weintraub, E-RYT 500, creator of LifeForce Yoga, and founder of the LifeForce Yoga Healing Institute.
Joy's personal recovery from depression and anxiety has resulted in a thorough commitment and compassion for her work as a LifeForce Yoga practitioner, scheduling group classes and workshops throughout the New England region. She specializes in offering customized private sessions at Joyful Breath Yoga Therapy, for clients who prefer to work one-on-one, or who may not feel ready to participate in a group setting.
Her involvement with offering group programs has evolved through the years, teaching at yoga studios, then branching out to holistic centers, medical facilities, and schools for children with emotional and psychiatric disorders. Joy regularly assists Amy Weintraub’s trainings and programs, and has been chosen as one of five people in the US to mentor other LifeForce Yoga Practitioners throughout the country.
Joy is currently studying with Joseph and Lilian Lepage, as part of their Integrative Yoga Therapy Professional Yoga Therapist Training Program.
She lives in Massachusetts with her husband, psychiatrist Irwin Bennett, MD.
